Young Adult Counseling

“You have plenty of courage, I am sure. All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty.” ― L. Frank Baum

Teens and young adults face constant stress. The prospect of becoming adults and having responsibilities can be overwhelming, especially considering the physical and mental changes they go through during the time.

At the same time peer groups and families both often unconsciously put pressure on a teen, it can create issues and insecurities . it is a delicate time in their life, and the right help at the right time can put things into perspective.

When To Come In For Young Adult Counselling

Here at Buddhayan Counselling we seek to guide teenagers and young adults to the path suited to them. Many young adults find it difficult to connect and communicate with their parents. They wish for a level of privacy and autonomy, that parents are either unable or unwilling to provide. Counselling can offer them with a safe outlet for their feelings and thoughts without fear of judgement from peers and family members.

How Can Young Adult Counseling Help?

Develop Coping mechanisms

Counselling can help young adults develop healthy coping mechanisms for the continually increasing pressure of the looming adult life.

Teenagers face one of the biggest life transitions of their life as they mature into young adults. At this crucial time, they need to be able to understand themselves. Their dreams and capabilities and limits are all in flux at this stage and it can be difficult to make sense of things at this time. Counselling at the right time can help young adults to establish their roots, and reach their ambitions

Build stronger self

Teenagers and young adults are prone to mental health disorders as their sense of self is put under threat by their personal changes as well as mounting pressure of peers, parents and society. Fear of disappointing family members, and fear of ridicule from  peers and society can lead to teenagers making impulsive decisions that can affect their future negatively.

Professional intervention at the correct time can help teenagers and young adults make better, informed decisions about their future in following ways:

Our Therapy Process

Your first step is to call us to schedule your initial appointment. We work hard to pair you with a therapist that we believe will be the best fit for you and your current struggles.

Your initial evaluation session provides an opportunity for you to build rapport with the therapist and provide them with some background about yourselves and the reasons you are seeking counselling. In addition, they will be able to answer your questions regarding services, confidentiality, and what to expect in therapy. With your best interests in mind, you will decide together what kind of treatment will benefit you the most.

At the end of your first session, if you decide to move forward and work with that therapist, you will be asked to schedule further appointments. At your second appointment, you will work with your therapist to set goals for your overall therapy experience and then begin working together towards achieving them.
